TANJUG_maliBELGRADE – German Chancellor Angela Merkel has told Serbian PM Aleksandar Vučić she had urged US President Donald Trump to get the US more involved in developments in the Balkans, a region strongly influenced by Russia, the Blic daily reported, quoting an unnamed source who attended Vučić’s meeting with Merkel on Tuesday, Tanjug reports.
Merkel said she was concerned over constant tensions over Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and developments in Croatia, the source said.

Germany cares about peace in the Balkans and Merkel expressed the wish to get seriously involved in reconciliation processes, asking Vucic to be a guarantor of peace and stability in the Balkans.

Merkel said she wanted Serbia to get involved more actively into the project to build a Nis-Pristina motorway, and expects European Commissioner Johannes Hahn to broker a deal on this in Sarajevo Thursday, it said.
