SOFIA – Belgian FM Didier Reynders said in Sofia on Friday the fact that the Western Balkans was back on the EU’s agenda was a “very good idea.”
“I am sure that the future of all the Western Balkan countries is in the European Union,” Reynders said during an informal meeting of EU FMs.
That depends on the capacity of all the member states and all the candidates to carry out reforms and make progress in the rule of law and fundamental rights, but also reconciliation between different partners like Serbia and Kosovo, he said, urging better regional cooperation.
He highlighted the fact Bulgaria and Austria had put the Western Balkans among the priorities of their respective EU presidencies.
