Osmani: Xhaferi to be candidate for president of Parliament

SKOPJE – Talat Xhaferi will be the new president of the Parliament of Republic of Macedonia, announced DUI’s spokesperson, Bujar Osmani for Portalb, Meta reports.

According to Osmani, Xhaferi is the only candidate proposed by DUI and the parliamentary majority. If Xhaferi manages to pass the voting process for an election of a president of the Parliament, that is going to be held next week, he will be the first Albanian speaker at the Parliament.

The new president of Parliament has to inform the President of the country, Gjorge Ivanov, that there is a parliamentary majority and Ivanov, in a period of 10 days, has to assign the mandate for forming a government to the leader of SDSM, Zoran Zaev.

After three days of negotiations, the representatives of parliamentary political parties agreed on the president of the Commission for Elections and Appointments to be Ilija Dimovski from VMRO-DPMNE, and the constitutive session will continue on Monday.

The Commission will consist of 6 members of VMRO-DPMNE, SDSM – 5, and DUI and BESA will each have one member each.
