Donald Tusk becomes the new President of the European People’s Party

ZAGREB – Outgoing President of the European Council and former Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk was elected to the position of the President of the European People’s Party (EPP) by the delegates to party’s Congress in Zagreb. Serving as President of the European Council from 2014 to 2019, Tusk will take over from Joseph Daul, who left the position of EPP President after six years. Tusk stood unopposed as the candidate for the President, while 10 Vice-Presidential positions are contested by 12 candidates. The results of the voting for the Vice-Presidents will be known today.
