BRUSSELS – Interogernmental conference between Serbia and the EU on which negotiating chapters 23 and 24 are expected to be opened, has started around 18:00 in Brussels.

The Serbian delegation is led by Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić, while the delegation of the EU is led by Miroslav Lajčak, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia, which has assumed EU presidency on 1 July.

The conference, which was originally expected to be held in June under the Dutch presidency, was delayed due to objections from Croatia. After these issues were resolved, conditions were met for the two key negotiating chapters, 23 and 24, to be finally opened.

After the conference, Vučić, Lajčak and Commissioner Johannes Hahn are expected to address the media.
